A French Affair with Château Smith Haut Laffite at Shangri-La Maldives

Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa Maldives recently launched new and innovative wine tasting experiences. Commencing in November 2014, the resort’s latest wine events firmly position the resort as a leading venue for food and beverage in the Maldives.

The programme has been created in collaboration with two of Shangri-La’s prestigious partners – Dr Steiner Johanneshof estate and Château Smith Haut Lafitte. In partnership with Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa Maldives, these renowned winemakers have created exciting programmes where guests will sample wines from Germany and France to discover the wines’ unique profiles and ideal food pairings. Attendees will be able to broaden their wine knowledge while enjoying the ‘sunny side of life’ in the Maldives.

‘Winemaker’s Selection’ at Fashala Restaurant

Fashala, the fine dining venue at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort & Spa Maldives, will host a variety of events, most notably Dr Steiner’s ‘Winemaker’s Selection’ in November 2014. This five-course gala dinner by Executive Chef Filippo Abisso will showcase the versatility of German wine.

Additionally in November, guests will have a fantastic chance to enjoy lunch in the Chef’s Garden, where the executive chef will showcase an assortment of tantalising bites using the freshest ingredients from the island’s garden. Attending guests will indulge in a tasting of German Rieslings.

To conclude an eventful November, the resort welcomes the owners of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, Mr Daniel and Mme Florence Cathiard. This renowned Bordeaux winery is acclaimed for producing equally magnificent white and red wines, which will be accompanied by a luxurious menu. Guests attending this fabulous event will be invited to a private wine master class hosted by Mme Florence Cathiard.
