Terminal 1 vs. Terminal 2
If you are flying out of the New Terminal 1, you will need to walk to Terminal 2 (Old Terminal) to store your bags. The facility is not yet available in the new building.
How to Spend a Long Layover
Once you have stored your bags at the Terminal 2 facility, you don't necessarily have to leave the airport island. Here are your best options:
- Dining at the Waterfront Building: Just across from the terminals (2-minute walk), you will find air-conditioned dining options including Pizza Hut, Costa Coffee, and Harvest Market.
- Moonimaa Lounge (Domestic Terminal): this lounge accepts walk-in guests for a fee. It offers comfortable seating, Wi-Fi, shower and a buffet (meal times vary.)
If you have 4+ hours, the capital, Malé City is a short ride away (10-15 minutes) connected by a bridge. Or you can take a ferry. The nearby Hulhumalé (15-20 minutes away) is also connected and can give you a relaxed, beachfront vibe.
